New Horizon Scanning Topics

A number of new topics are being added to the range of those already published as part of the Horizon Scanning project.

The new topics include Child Health, Maternity and Patient Safety. The new bulletins are more focussed on acute topics, but maintain their original aim of looking for information on best practice and innovation in service delivery.

Commissioning

NHS Evidence has published its latest bulletin for those involved in commissioning for health and well-being.

NHS Evidence-Commissioning contains the best available evidence, examples of good practices, policy and data to support world class commissioning. A bulletin is published every month to inform readers about new additions to the collection.  NHS Evidence – Commissioning is also available as an RSS feed, or you can follow updates on Twitter.

NHS Institute Alert: Better research, better results

The NHS Institute have published their January 2010 bulletin, which contains information on all of the content which has recently been made available on the NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvement’s website.

The bulletin contains links to documents on change management, commissioning, improvement, innovation, knowledge improvement and research, leadership, patient experience and patient safety.

NHS Institute Alert

NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvement produce a monthly current awareness alert, which highlights the latest research and publications from the Institute’s website. The alert also features guest editorials, and news of speical events.

Updated Bulletins of Interest to Staff

Several new bulletins have recently been published which may be of interest to library users.

This month’s edition of The Commissioner is now available to be viewed by staff.  The Commissioner is a monthly bulletin produced by NHS Librarians to keep you up to date with developments in commissioning.

Map of Medicine, the evidence-based clinical pathway tool designed to assist healthcare professionals in their decision making, has published its Newsletter which is aimed at keeping NHS staff updated with developments in Map of Medicine.

Current Bytes is published fortnightly by Health Librarians, and is aimed at keeping readers up to date with the electronic knowledge base, usually with a particular focus on mental health.

Also recently published, NHS Western Cheshire and Community Care Western Cheshire staff now have access to the most recent issue of  Freedom of Information Journal, which can be viewed on the extranet. This issue contains stories on the Freedom of Information Act, the Information Tribunal and Freedom of Information News.

New Resources

We have a number of new resources available in the library.

Members of staff who have access to the NHS Western Cheshire extranet can follow links on the library pages to Freedom of Information Journal. Published six times a year, this journal is a vital read for all those who work in the field of information.
